Native Spirit Festival is the UK’s original and only Independent annual festival. We work to promote Indigenous filmmakers and artists, and those who support Indigenous Peoples in telling their own stories.

This year is 10th Anniversary of UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Native Spirit is part collaborating with the Human Rights Consortium by screening Indigenous Films in the run-up to their conference to review progress and challenges of UNDRIP. Entries highlighting cultural heritage rights welcome.

Rules & Terms

PLEASE RESPECTFULLY TAKE NOTE: Submissions with non-Indigenous or designated Tribal content will be disqualified.

To be eligible for submission, an Indigenous person has to play a key role either behind or in front of the camera and the connection with an Indigenous community has to be clearly stated in the Synopsis and Custom Form.

All media submitted to the Native Spirit Festival will be considered by the Festival’s Selection Committee. Films will be chosen on the basis that the values presented align with that of Native Spirit Foundation’s work. The Native Spirit Festival is a charitable project and therefore not a commercial festival and run by dedicated volunteers.

All non-English language films must have English subtitles for final viewing.
